NEWS UPDATE SPRING & SUMMER 2013

Well here we are in the beginning of another warm season.  I do not know how drivers are going to deal with the changes in the weather and keep going to work, school and vacations.  We at Community Driver Safety Programs, Inc. (CDSP) hope our students remember what they learned and SLOW DOWN WHILE KEEPING CALM.

We have continued instructing classes in the National Safety Council (NSC) Defensive Driving 4, 6/8 Courses (DDC4, DDC6/8) , Alive@25 Program and the Certified Emergency Operator Course (CEVO) in Sullivan, Rockland and Orange Counties in NY and now in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

We have continued instructing High School students in the Alive@25 Program at no cost to the students.  This was being done through donations from parents, businesses and a grant from the Youth Bureau of Sullivan County.  We will be able to continue doing this with the help of additional donations.  All donations are tax deductible per IRS regulations since we are a 501(c) not for profit charity.
.
In 2012 we instructed more than 420 people in DDC4, DDC6/8, Alive@25 and CEVO.  We had about an additional 100 people who took the course online.

In 2011 and 2012 tried out a special program for people over 50 years of age by charging them $25.00.  This was done only if we had a class of at least 35 people where those under 50 would still pay $40.00 and those over paid $25.00.  This gave us a group of mixed ages and helped students understand the driving problems each encountered on the road.  We held four such classes and received a wonderful response from the students. We plan on continuing this program and extending it to our PA classes.

Like all other businesses our costs have gone up but our cost to the individual student was held at $40.00.  We are now in need of additional tax deductible donations and grants in order to keep all of our programs at these low costs to students of all age groups.

We have added a new location in Wilkes-Barre, PA, The Best Western Plus also known as the East Mountain Inn and Suites located at 600 Wildflower Drive off I81 Exit 170A .  We are still looking for additional locations in Orange County, NY and Northeastern PA to give courses.  Any location can use the programs to help in improving safety on the roads and as a fund raiser.  After all we are trying to make the roads safer for everyone.  The more people who take the course, the better and safer are the roads.  An additional benefit in taking the DDC course is Point Reduction and maybe a reduction in Insurance costs.
